The Karoo Boekehuis dates from the 2nd half of the 19th century and was restored in 1993. After restoration the Boekehuis was put at the disposal of the Karoo Boeke Trust, Hantam, and contains a valuable collection of books about and from the Karoo.
Accommodation is also provided for authors where they can work in peace where and extensive library and literary aids are made available.
The objects of the Trust Hantam are -
- to collect and preserve books about and from the Karoo
- to make the books belonging to the Trust available to authors and researchers
- to promote writing and reading in the Karoo.
