They are an independent bookstore and were named one of 50 unique bookshops in the world by the International Booksellers Federation.The shop opened in 2000 and is located in a more than 100 year-old house, retaining the cosiness of the old house, with an adjoining coffee shop set in a delightful garden.
The bookshop stocks a range of books covering literature, politics, history – and more and has a wonderful collection of hand-picked books from world literature, philosophy, design, cultural studies, natural history and children’s books. It also has an excellent collection of Afrikaans books.
Booklovers and readers love to come to The Boekehuis because of the interesting programmes of author readings, discussions and book launches and readers also meet writers..
