They are a small, independent publishing house which started out in 1990 with the sole purpose of publishing an identification guide to grasses of South Africa.Briza has since grown into the leading publisher of botanical books in South Africa.

Its published list comprises more than 100 titles, and includes definitive identification guides on medicinal plants, food plants, poisonous plants, indigenous trees etc. They also publish books on gardening, ecology, tourism and natural history.
