Hermanus has two of the nicest bookshops which happen to be right next door to each other. The Book Cottage is one of them and is full of new books, especially new South African novels and non-fiction.
Art books take special pride of place in this bookshop and children under 12 have a special bright corner reserved for them.

They were established in 2008 and customers will also be able to visit their tea garden on Sundays and buy organic products. On top of that the owner, Esme van Bergen, is willing to receive customers at the book shop before and after business hours, by appointment.
